Wahid Faghir joins SV Elversberg on Loan from VFB

Storm talent Wahid Faghir will wear the jersey of SV Elversberg in the new 2023/2024 season. The 19-year-old Dane is moving from Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart to SVE on a one-season loan basis.

Until the end of August 2021, Wahid Faghir worked for Vejle Boldklub in his native Denmark. Faghir signed his first professional contract there at the age of 15, and in 2020 he rose with the club to the Danish Superligaen, where he scored seven goals in 29 first division games and provided two assists before moving to Germany. Parallel to his club successes, Wahid Faghir was also successful with the youth national teams in Denmark. Faghir has made 34 appearances (15 goals) since the U16s. In 2021, when he was 17, he reached the quarter-finals of the European Championships with the Danish U21 national team.

Last season, the VfB Stuttgart striker was loaned out to the Danish first division side FC Nordsjaelland, where he made 16 league appearances (four goals) including the championship round. "Wahid Faghir is a very complete striker with his physique, playful quality and finishing power and is therefore an asset for us," says SVE Sport Director Ole Book: "He will strengthen our offensive game with his extraordinary skills, we're looking forward to the season with him .” Faghir adds: “I am convinced that the move to Elversberg is the right step for my further development. I look forward to getting to know the squad and helping the team have a successful season.”
